So About My Work….
I started learning about Design for Marketing in my Marketing and Promotions course in September 2023. I had no clue how to use any of the Adobe applications, but during my first year, I learned basic skills and got better with time. This is how I discovered that I like to design creative content and use my imagination, especially when it comes to social media. This website will display projects and assignments that I have created to nurture my skills in apps like Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Indesign. I also have experience doing freelance content creation for my school, Durham College, and will be showing you the videos that they have published. I am also a Resident Advisor at Durham College and events are frequently hosted there. I have created video promotions and Instagram post promotions for my job as a Resident Advisor. I truly love the art of content creation and making Instagram ads the most. I still strive to advance my creative skills and be well-rounded by the time I am ready to graduate in 2025.
In addition to practicing and exploring my creative skills and working with software to improve and execute my vision, I have completed two online certificates with Hubspot Academy. These are Social Media Marketing Part 1 and Digital Advertising. I do plan on using the knowledge I gained from these courses to better my future career and I do plan on gaining more certifications from HubSpot Academy.
More About Me
I am originally from Montego Bay, Jamaica. I have always had a creative spirit since I was young, wanting to write stories for my mother to read or make jewelry from scratch, or with odd things I found in the house, I wanted to create. My biggest passion as a child was dance. I love all forms of dance whether it be contemporary, jazz, or hip-hop but my favorite will always be ballet. The beauty in masking complex techniques to make it look simple and light is amazing. I don’t dance currently but given the chance to do it again, I would.
Currently, I express my creativity through makeup and cosplay looks. Growing up I wasn’t allowed to use makeup so I didn’t have much practice with the medium but as an adult, I practice using it not to make myself more attractive but to show what I’m feeling inside. I see makeup as painting on a canvas to show how I feel in the moment since it can change every day. Once I learned how to do this, I explored more with cosplay makeup and wanted to transform into a new character or make my own. Additionally, I love creating social media content. It’s a fun way to see life through my eyes and it makes me want to develop more video editing skills to share with the world how I see it and all its hues.
Also, I enjoy attending paint parties despite not being able to paint or draw. But it’s fun to make something in a calm and relaxing environment. Regardless of the outcome I always enjoy the process of making something new and challenging myself. A goal I have is that one day I hope I can publish a fiction book.
